Counselors & Therapists

"Psychology you can use, from professionals you can trust," is not just a catchy slogan at Impact. It's a description of all the materials we produce.

The books with Impact began as a collaboration of colleagues in a university counseling center. Impact's popular psychology titles have always found a home with counselors and therapists who want to extend their reach via homework and bibliotherapy.

In 1998 Impact launched a new line of select books for practicing professionals themselves. Each book in "The Practical Therapist Series®" will reflect a strong combination of the following characteristics:

•    significant and timely topic in psychotherapy (issue, procedure, approach)
•    innovative concept, procedures, presentation
•    integrative – rather than ideological – approach
•    addressed to practicing professionals (may also be appropriate for advanced graduate students)
•    specific therapeutic procedures
•    plain language style (technical terms as needed)
•    plentiful case examples
•    empirical research foundation
•    complete literature citations
•    experienced professional psychotherapist author(s)
•    theoretical assumptions identified

"Practical Therapist Series®" books are particularly valuable for professionals who are dedicated to expanding their skills. Note that all of the Practical Therapist books, and virtually all of the popular titles as well, are written by distinguished professionals with decades of experience in direct service treatment settings.
